Welcome to Historical Novel Malpractice!

Ronda Wells

Hello and welcome to the newest section of NOVEL MALPRACTICE.

Are you writing about historical medical fiction?

After reading a NYT bestseller, I spotted a title mentioned by the author as being a library book. I was interested in the topic for a book I am working on, so I went to find a copy.

To my surprise and dismay, the book had not been printed until thirty years later than the setting of the story. Also thirty years later than the setting of MY story, too.

I realized that writers of historical fiction needed their own place, so to speak, besides Novel Malpractice. I’ve helped historical fiction authors before and had developed an idea for this a few years back, according to a notebook I discovered not long ago. Under a pile of books. Where else?

If you’re struggling with a historical medical topic for your book, contact me and/or suggest a topic. I regularly feature and promote books from other authors as I can.

Check out my introductory videos on the Novel Malpractice YouTube channel, too. Feel free to subscribe, as I hope to do more of these in the future. Plague doctor outfits have always fascinated me!

And don’t forget to sign up for Historical Novel Malpractice blog notifications, too. Yes, the button says “newsletter” but it’s not.

It’s just a quick note to advise you of any updates or new articles posted.
